Spotted in manhattan on the upper west side. These were the only plates this car had, front and back. No inspection sticker or anything. Picture of car in comments

These are issued to American military personnel stationed in Germany. They mimmick the German Euro-plates, but have the NATO star and USA where German plates would have the EU stars and a D for Germany. The green thing is a German tax disc from 2012.

They may have recently moved back Stateside and the plates were not removed. I have my USAFE plates from 21 years ago...

This reminds me that there are now some TX issued euro style license plates. I started seeing them at Coffee and Cars and then around town. They're legal and everything I think since the license plate matches the registration sticker (I checked), but I'm not sure how you go about getting them.

Might have jumped the gun on that assumption. Turns out they aren't legal, but people get matching their real license plates so the cops don't totally screw them when they get pulled over. I can't believe people would be dumb enough to run around with an illegal license plate that is so obvious, that's why I originally assumed they were legal. That is just asking for it. Although I shouldn't talk I guess because I just got my black TX license plate that says HAZRD on the back of my Mustang that has no front plates and illegal light tints lol.

Interesting, that's more of what I thought. I've seen one or two of those in NYC.
